Dear Friends -

I can't seem to turn the TV on without the Lord showing me something interesting.

Knowing Our Place in the Body:

One of those "interesting" moments came as I watched a preview for the movie "Divergent" (due to be released in March). It is a movie based in a futuristic setting where every sixteen year old must take a personality test to determine which of five "factions" they will be assigned to for the rest of their lives: Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). The movie includes a line that caught my attention the moment I heard it:   The future belongs to those who know where they belong.

Now, more than ever, we need to know where we belong in relation to the Body of Christ. It's time for us to know not only our own unique gifts and callings, but to know how we are called to move together under Christ's leading. What function do we serve in the body? Where has God placed me in His body? Who has He placed beside me? How are we functioning together?

Healthy "Joints":

Along with the "body" theme, the Lord has also been speaking to me about the significance of "joints". Colossians 2:9 tells us that Christ is the head of the Body, and that He holds it together with joints and ligaments, and it grows as God nourishes it.

From a physical sense, joints are located where different parts of our body connect - they represent an important point of connection. Their purpose is to allow for movement and provide support - and they serve a vital function in times of physical stress. It's interesting to note the correlation between the function of our physical "joints" and that of spiritual "joints" within in the Body of Christ.

Whenever the Body of Christ gathers corporately, the meeting becomes a point of connection for various parts of the Body of believers. These meetings provide a time for movement, while providing support - especially in times of stress.

Vulnerable "Joints"

While we all may be familiar with the Scripture verse above - it's interesting to note that there are a few other references to "joints" in the Bible. In 1 Kings 22 and 2 Chronicles 18 we read that the King of Israel was killed on the battlefield because the enemy's arrow struck him "between the joints of his armor". This reveals that the "joints" (the places of connection) can be very vulnerable to attacks by the enemy. Could it be that one of the enemy's primary strategies against the Church, is to keep us from "joining", "connecting" and "unifying" for the days ahead?

Interestingly, our joints aren't only susceptible to the arrows of the enemy. Hebrews 4:12-13 tells us that God's Word is sharper than a 2-edged sword and will pierce and separate "joints and marrow". God's Word is designed to reveal our motives and intents every time we gather and connect together. One day soon, Christ will return for a spotless Bride - and that will require a righteous remnant who have no agenda other than to see Christ exalted in our midst.

This is an exciting time for all of us who reside within the "North East Corridor". We are positioned to witness a monumental and historic move of God - for decades, this coming move has been described as a "spiritual tsunami". It will require that every believer be watchful, alert and at their posts in the days ahead. And we won't be alone. We will be accompanied on this journey by a great cloud of witnesses who have been praying on our behalf for millennia. I can only imagine the conversations that go on between them!!

It's time to get ready. It's time to get in place. And it's time to connect the region.
